Honey Whiskey Clove Ham
This impressive ham is coated in a simple glaze made from honey, bourbon, and ground cloves. The fully cooked, spiral-sliced ham is baked until heated through, then finished with a final glaze for a beautifully golden and flavourful result. It's an excellent centrepiece for a holiday dinner or festive gathering, serving up to twelve people. The total preparation and cooking time is just over an hour.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup honey
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Bourbon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 (5 lb) bone-in ham, fully cooked spiral sliced
Method
- In a small bowl, mix the honey, whiskey, and ground cloves together until they form a smooth, blended glaze.
- Put the ham into a roasting pan with the cut side facing down, then use a brush to apply the honey mixture over its surface.
- Cover the pan with foil and bake at 275°F for 1 hour, or until the ham is heated through. Take off the foil and turn the oven up to 425°F. Brush on more of the honey glaze and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the ham turns golden brown.
- Take the ham out of the roasting pan, transfer it to a platter for serving, and spoon the pan juices over the top.
