Popular French Onion Dip
This creamy dip is a homemade take on a popular store-bought favourite. It combines sour cream with a base of softened dried onion and garlic, along with chives and a hint of mayonnaise. The result is a rich, savoury dip perfect for sharing. It comes together quickly and is ideal for serving with crisps or fresh vegetable sticks at gatherings.
Ingredients
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 16 ounces fat free sour cream or 16 ounces fat free Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons fat-free mayonnaise
- 1 1/2 tablespoons dried onion
- 3 teaspoons dried garlic
- 3 teaspoons fine cut fresh chives
Method
- Use a coffee grinder to process the beef bouillon cubes into a fine powder.
- Place the bouillon powder, dried onion and dried garlic into a coffee cup.
- Add just enough water to cover the ingredients in the cup.
- Microwave the mixture for 15 to 30 seconds until the contents have softened.
- Combine the softened bouillon mixture with the sour cream, mayonnaise and chives.
- Chill the dip until you are ready to serve it with crisps or vegetables.
