Baked Northern Pike
This straightforward recipe bakes northern pike fillets with a classic combination of flavours. Butter, sliced onion and green pepper form the base, while bacon strips laid over the top keep the fish moist as it cooks. A sprinkle of lemon juice adds a bright note. Ingredients
- 3 -4 lbs northern pike fillets
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium onion
- 1 medium green pepper
- 6 -8 slices bacon
- lemon juice
- salt and pepper
Method
- Heat your oven to 350 degrees.
- Melt the butter and pour it into a 9x13 inch cake pan.
- Arrange the fillets in the melted butter, then season them with salt and pepper. For simpler cleanup, you can line the pan with aluminium foil first.
- Slice the onion and green pepper, then scatter the pieces over the fish fillets.
- Drizzle 2 teaspoons of lemon juice evenly over the top.
- Lay the 6-8 strips of bacon across the fillets to cover them.
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes.
