Tandoori Salmon Fillets with Mango Mint Relish
This dish features salmon fillets marinated in a spiced yogurt blend with garlic, ginger, and garam masala. After marinating, the salmon is grilled and accompanied by a refreshing relish made from diced mango, green onions, jalapeno, lime juice, and mint. Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets, about 6 oz each
- vegetable oil (for brushing)
- marinade
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon garam masala (an Indian spice blend) or 1 tablespoon curry paste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- relish
- 1 large mango, peeled
- 3 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped jalapeno pepper
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 2 tablespoons chopped mint leaves
- salt
Method
- Mix the marinade ingredients together in a small bowl and coat the salmon fillets with the mixture. Place them in the refrigerator for an hour.
- Cut the peeled mango into 1/2 inch cubes and mix them with all the other relish ingredients. Chill this mixture until you are ready to serve.
- The relish can be prepared up to 12 hours in advance.
- Lightly brush the marinated salmon with vegetable oil. Place the fillets on the grill, flesh side down, for 2 minutes.
- Flip the salmon over, close the grill lid, and cook for another 5 minutes or until white juices become visible.
- Plate the grilled salmon and serve the chilled mango mint relish on the side.
