Salt-Free Creole Seasoning

This is a classic salt-free Creole seasoning mix, adapted from a New Orleans cookbook. It combines granulated onion and garlic with black pepper, paprika, and a selection of dried herbs and spices including thyme, marjoram, and cayenne. Simply mix all the ingredients together and store in an airtight jar. The blend will keep its flavour for up to a year when stored in a cool, dark place.

Salt-Free Creole Seasoning

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons granulated onion
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/3 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 pinch dry mustard

Method

  1. Combine all the listed ingredients in a jar that has a tight-fitting lid.
  2. Seal the jar tightly and store it in a cool location, where it will keep for about a year.
