Oriental Pepper Steak

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 lb bonelss chuck or 1 lb ground round, cut up into strips
  • 1 .oz envelope lipton onions or 1 onion mushroom
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 green pepper, cut into thin strips
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 1 medium tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • hot white rice

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a skillet and brown the beef strips, then drain.
  2. Add the soup mix, which has been blended with 1 1/2 cups of water.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Mix in the green pepper strips, soy sauce, ground ginger, and chopped garlic.
  5. Cover again and simmer for 15 minutes or until the beef becomes tender.
  6. Stir in the tomato wedges, followed by the cornstarch blended with the remaining water.
  7. Bring back to a boil, then simmer while stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
  8. Serve the beef mixture arranged over hot white rice.
