Bare Pantry Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips (1.5 cups for dough, 1/2 cup for topping)

Method

  3. Mix in the flour gradually, continuing to beat the mixture.
  4. Fold 1 1/2 cups of the chocolate chips into the dough.
  5. Transfer the dough to an ungreased 9 x 13 pan, pressing it down evenly.
  6. Place the pan in the oven at 375° for 20-22 minutes, baking until the edges turn golden.
  7. Allow the baked slab to cool in its pan until it is just slightly warm.
  8. To prepare the topping:
  9. Place the remaining 1/2 cup of chocolate chips in a sealable plastic bag and microwave on HIGH for 1 minute, monitoring it closely.
