Arkansas Hot Pepper Pecans
These addictive spiced pecans are a treasured family recipe. Whole pecans are toasted in butter before being coated in a savoury, fiery blend of soy and Tabasco sauce. After a brief rest to let the flavours meld, they become an irresistible snack with a satisfying crunch. They make a wonderful homemade gift as they store so well.
Ingredients
- 1 cup pecans
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
- 6 dashes Tabasco sauce
Method
- Arrange the pecans in a single layer in a casserole dish or on a baking tray and pour the melted butter over them.
- Place in an oven preheated to 300 degrees and bake for 25-30 minutes until they take on a light golden colour.
- Combine the soy sauce, optional salt, and Tabasco in a bowl, then pour this mixture over the warm toasted pecans and stir thoroughly to coat.
