Dr Pepper Crockpot Chicken
This recipe creates tender pulled chicken with a unique sweet and tangy sauce made from Dr Pepper, ketchup and brown sugar. Ingredients
- 4 large boneless chicken breasts, thawed
- 12 ounces Dr. Pepper cola
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon season salt
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 medium sweet onion, minced
Method
- Put the thawed chicken breasts into your crockpot or slow cooker.
- Whisk all the remaining ingredients together thoroughly in a large mixing bowl.
- Pour 2 cups of the prepared sauce over the chicken in the crockpot.
- Keep the leftover sauce to one side for later use on the sandwiches.
- Cook the chicken with the lid on for 5-6 hours.
- Use two forks to pull the cooked chicken apart into shreds.
- Place the shredded chicken onto your chosen sandwich buns.
