Creamy Gourmet Chicken Liver

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken liver
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 (4 ounce) can mushrooms, drained or 4 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small green pepper, julienned
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 teaspoon clove
  • 2 tablespoons minced parsley

Method

  1. Brown the chicken livers on all sides using half of the butter, then take them out of the pan.
  2. Place the rest of the butter into the same skillet and cook the sliced onion, mushrooms, and julienned green pepper for 5 minutes.
  3. Mix the flour, salt, and pepper into the vegetables.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth, stirring continuously until the sauce becomes thick and smooth.
  5. Add the bay leaf, cloves, and the browned chicken livers to the pan. Cover it and let everything simmer for 15 minutes, then discard the bay leaf and cloves.
  6. Serve the finished dish alongside rice or noodles.
