Cheesy New Orleans Shrimp Dip

Ingredients

  • 1 slice bacon
  • 3 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 4 jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 medium tomatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 3 cups monterey jack cheese, shredded
  • 4 drops Tabasco sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 dash black pepper
  • chips (for serving)

Method

  1. Fry the bacon slice until it becomes crisp, then drain and crumble it.
  2. In the rendered bacon fat, sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic, then drain them on a paper towel.
  3. Take the peeled shrimp and chop them coarsely.
  4. Place all the prepared ingredients, except the serving chips, into a slow cooker.
  5. Put the lid on the cooker and set it to Low for 1 hour, until the cheese has fully melted.
  6. If the mixture becomes overly thick, you can thin it with a little milk.
  7. Offer the warm dip alongside chips for dipping.
