Caramelized Baked Brie
This impressive baked brie is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, often becoming the centrepiece of a festive spread. A whole brie round is enveloped in crescent dough and baked. A rich paste of butter and brown sugar is then added, followed by a scattering of almonds, before a final bake creates a deliciously caramelised topping. Allow it to rest before serving warm with crackers for a truly memorable starter.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces brie round
- 1 (8 ounce) can crescent roll dough
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, approximately
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds, approximately
Method
- Heat your oven to 375.
- Unroll the crescent dough, keeping it as a single sheet.
- Encase the entire brie wheel in the dough, pressing the seams to seal.
- Transfer the wrapped brie to a greased baking tray and cook for 20 minutes.
- As the brie bakes, melt the butter in a small pan and stir in brown sugar to form a thick paste.
- Take the brie from the oven and spoon the sugar paste over the top.
- Scatter the sliced almonds evenly across the surface.
- Bake again for a further 10 minutes.
- Carefully move the baked brie to a platter.
- Leave it to stand for 15 minutes, then serve with assorted crackers.
