5 Ingredient Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars
This straightforward recipe yields delicious no bake bars with a chocolate and peanut butter topping. With only five key components, the mixture comes together quickly before being chilled until firm. The hardest part is the wait for them to set completely before slicing. Perfect for a simple homemade sweet, these bars are best enjoyed at room temperature. The recipe makes approximately 16 squares.
Ingredients
- 115g / 1/2 cup / 1 US stick melted salted butter ((or unsalted butter + 1/4 tsp salt))
- 1 cup crushed Arnott's Marie crackers (11 crackers) or graham cracker crumbs (8 crackers) (Note 1)
- 1 cup icing sugar / powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup peanut butter ((smooth))
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips - the melting kind ((US: semi sweet) (Note 2))
- 2 tbsp peanut butter ((smooth))
Method
- Prepare an 8" / 20cm square pan by greasing it and lining it with baking paper.
- Combine all the Base ingredients in a bowl and mix them thoroughly. Press this mixture firmly into the lined pan.
- Melt the Topping ingredients together, which can be done in a microwave using 2 x 30 second bursts. Pour the melted mixture over the Base and spread it out evenly.
- Place the pan in the refrigerator to set for about 1 1/2 hours. Once set, let it sit out briefly so the topping cuts cleanly. Slice into 16 squares.
