This tilapia dish is a speedy and healthy option, ready in only 15 minutes. It features a gentle lemon flavour and is seasoned with garlic powder, basil, salt and pepper. The fish is cooked in a pan with lemon juice and water, resulting in a light, low-fat meal that is perfect for a simple dinner. It can also be made with catfish fillets if preferred.

Mildly Lemony Tilapia

Ingredients

  • 4 (4 ounce) tilapia fillets (or catfish)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • butter-flavored cooking spray
  • 1/8 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup water

Method

  1. Sprinkle one side of the tilapia fillets with the garlic powder, dried basil, salt and black pepper.
  2. Coat a pan with the butter-flavoured cooking spray and place it over medium high heat.
  3. Allow the fish to brown for about thirty seconds, then pour in the lemon juice and water.
  4. Continue cooking the fillets for 4-5 minutes on each side before taking the pan off the heat.
  5. Plate the fish and serve it straight away.
