3-Mothers Meatloaf
This classic meatloaf recipe is known for its rich flavour and hearty texture. It combines a mixture of beef, veal, and pork with pasta and a blend of herbs, all baked together in a Dutch oven. The method involves browning onions, mixing the ingredients thoroughly, and baking until perfectly cooked with a nicely browned top. It yields a satisfying dish that serves two to three people and takes about two hours to prepare and cook.
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 1 tablespoon basil
- salt and black pepper
- 5 tablespoons A.1. Original Sauce
- 4 lbs meatloaf mixture (beef, veal, pork)
- 0.5 (16 ounce) box of favorite pasta wagon wheel macaroni or 0.5 (16 ounce) box elbow macaroni
- 1 large white onions (onion powder can be substituted) or 1 large vidalia onion (onion powder can be substituted)
Method
- Set your oven to heat to 375°F.
- Chop the onion into very small pieces and cook them in a pan with butter until they brown, or you can use onion powder instead.
- Combine all the other ingredients, leaving out the milk, in a big bowl using your hands, mixing until the meat, pasta and onions are evenly distributed.
- Transfer the mixture to a large Dutch oven, shape it into a loaf, and then pour the milk over the top to help it brown.
- Put the lid on the Dutch oven and place it in the preheated oven.
- Let it bake for 1 Hour, then check if it is cooked. Take the lid off and return it to the oven for about.
- 25-30 minutes until it is fully done.
- For a well-cooked result, adjust the timing as needed, ensuring the lid is removed for the final 15-20 min to brown the loaf nicely.
