3 Cheese and Beef Stuffed Shells

Ingredients

  • 24 uncooked jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 lb 80% lean ground beef (at least 80%)
  • 1 (26 ounce) jar chunky pasta sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 (8 ounce) container chive & onion cream cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Italian cheese blend
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 -2 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)

Method

  1. Set your oven to 350°F. Prepare the jumbo pasta shells according to the package directions until they are al dente, then drain them.
  2. Cook the ground beef in a 10-inch skillet for 5 to 7 minutes until no longer pink, then drain the fat. Allow it to cool for about 5 minutes.
  3. Combine the pasta sauce with the water in a large bowl. Spread 1 cup of this sauce over the base of an ungreased 13x9 glass baking dish. In another bowl, mix the chive and onion cream cheese, 1 cup of the Italian cheese blend, the Parmesan cheese, the egg, and the cooked beef. Fill each pasta shell with a heaping tablespoon of this cheese and beef mixture. Place the filled shells over the sauce in the dish. Pour the rest of the sauce over the top of the shells. Cover the dish tightly with aluminium foil.
  4. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the sauce is bubbling and the filling has set. Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining Italian cheese over the shells. Return to the oven for 10 more minutes to melt the cheese. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
