Turkey Loaf With Balsamic Honey Mustard
This savoury loaf combines ground turkey with cooked brown rice, fresh sage, and aromatics. It is baked and glazed with a distinctive sauce made from honey, balsamic vinegar, and Dijon mustard, creating a moist and flavourful centrepiece. The dish is straightforward to prepare and yields a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs ground turkey
- 3/4 cup cooked brown rice
- 1/4 cup minced onion
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 2 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh sage
- 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granule
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
Method
- Heat your oven to 350°F.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked brown rice, minced onion, beaten egg, milk, chopped sage, chicken bouillon granules, and black pepper.
- Add the ground turkey to the bowl and mix everything together using your hands.
- Transfer the combined mixture into a loaf pan.
- Make the glaze by mixing together the honey, balsamic vinegar, and Dijon mustard.
- Spread half of the honey mustard glaze over the top of the turkey loaf. Place it in the oven to bake for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, spoon the rest of the glaze over the loaf. Return it to the oven for a further 20-30 minutes, or until it is fully cooked.
- Allow the baked loaf to rest for 5-10 minutes before you slice and serve it.
