Chilli Lemon Octopus

Ingredients

  • 2 kg baby octopus
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon rind, grated
  • 3/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons hot chili sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed

Method

  1. Discard the heads and beaks from the octopus, then cut each one in half.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the octopus with the grated lemon rind, lemon juice, olive oil, chilli sauce, and crushed garlic. Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for 3 hours or leave it overnight.
  3. Take the octopus out of the marinade, allowing the liquid to drain away, and dispose of the used marinade.
  4. Place the octopus into a preheated skillet or onto a barbecue, cooking it until it becomes just tender.
