5-Ingredient Apple Crumble
This is a wonderfully straightforward apple crumble pie requiring only five core ingredients. Sliced apples are layered with sugar and topped with a buttery crumble mixture. Ingredients
- 750 g apples, peeled and sliced
- 90 g powdered sugar
- 90 g all-purpose flour, sifted
- 60 g butter
- whipped cream or ice cream (optional)
Method
- Split the prepared apple slices into two equal piles.
- Arrange one pile of apples in a glass baking dish, dust with half the powdered sugar, then layer the remaining apples on top.
- Using your fingertips, rub the butter into the sifted flour in a separate bowl to create a texture like fine breadcrumbs.
- Add the rest of the powdered sugar to this mixture and combine thoroughly.
- Evenly distribute the crumble topping over the fruit layer and press it down gently with your fingers.
- Place in an oven preheated to 175 degrees celcius (347 degrees F) and bake for 55 minutes.
- Enjoy while still warm, with optional whipped cream or ice cream.
