This classic spinach dip is a quick and easy party favourite. It combines thawed spinach, sour cream, onion soup mix, mayonnaise, and chopped water chestnuts for a creamy, flavourful result. The mixture is chilled before being served in a hollowed-out sourdough loaf, creating an edible bowl perfect for sharing. It's an ideal appetiser for gatherings, ready in under 15 minutes.

Spinach Dip

Ingredients

  • 1 package frozen spinach (thawed and drained)
  • 1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
  • 1 package onion dip mix (Lipton Onion Soup Mix)
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 (4 ounce) can water chestnuts, chopped
  • 1 loaf round sourdough bread

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients except the sourdough bread in a bowl, mixing until thoroughly blended.
  2. Refrigerate the dip mixture to chill.
  3. Slice the top from the round sourdough loaf and hollow out the centre to create a bowl.
  4. Spoon the chilled dip into the prepared bread bowl and serve immediately.
