Spicy Yogurt Chicken
This British main course offers a flavourful twist on chicken. Skinless drumsticks are slashed and coated in a marinade of natural yogurt, chilli powder, cumin, coriander, and turmeric. After marinating, the chicken is barbecued until thoroughly cooked. The dish is a good source of iron and can be enjoyed either hot or cold, making it a versatile option for any occasion. It serves four people and takes about 30 minutes to prepare and cook.
Ingredients
- 8 skinless chicken drumsticks
- 142ml pot natural yogurt
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp ground coriander
- 2 tsp ground turmeric
Method
- Using a sharp knife, create several slashes in each chicken drumstick. Combine the yogurt, 1 tsp chilli powder, 1 tbsp ground cumin, 1 tbsp ground coriander, and 2 tsp ground turmeric in a bowl and season. Add the drumsticks, ensuring the mixture is rubbed well into the meat. Cover and chill for 30 mins if time allows.
- Take the drumsticks from the marinade, shaking off any excess. Barbecue them for 20-25 mins, turning now and then, until they are cooked through.
