Spicy Garlic-Sesame Green Beans
This American side dish features fresh green beans quickly sauteed in a savoury homemade sauce. Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame chili oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon peanut oil
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- salt to taste
Method
- Mix the mirin, soy sauce, sesame chili oil, garlic, and sesame seeds together in a small bowl. Set this prepared sauce to one side.
- Warm the peanut oil in a large skillet. Introduce the green beans and saute them for 2 minutes, stirring often. Pour in the sauce and reduce the heat. Keep cooking until the beans are tender to your liking, for 4 to 5 minutes more. Add salt according to taste just before serving.
