These crispy chicken wings are a beloved family dish. They are first fried until golden, then baked to achieve a crisp finish. While they bake, a simple sauce of margarine, garlic, and hot sauce is prepared. The cooked wings are tossed in this spicy garlic glaze just before serving. Spicy Garlic Hot Wings

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons seasoning salt
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup Frank's red hot sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves

Method

  1. Thaw the chicken wings and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Set your oven to preheat to 350 Degrees.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, ground black pepper, and seasoning salt.
  4. Pour the vegetable oil into a large skillet and place it on the hob to heat.
  5. Once the oil is hot enough for frying, use tongs to dredge each wing in the flour mixture and carefully place it in the pan.
  6. Add the coated wings to the oil slowly to prevent the temperature from dropping.
  7. Fry the wings until they achieve a light golden colour on both sides.
  8. Transfer the fried wings to a baking sheet fitted with a cooling rack or grid. you may line the sheet with foil for easier cleaning to allow fat to drip away.
  9. Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes.
  10. Remove the wings from the oven once they reach your desired level of crispiness.
  11. Prepare the sauce while the wings are baking.
  12. Melt the 1/2 cup of margarine in a small saucepan.
  13. Stir in the garlic cloves, which should be finely chopped.
  14. Cook the garlic in the melted margarine for 3-4 minutes.
  15. Pour in the Frank's red hot sauce and stir to combine.
  16. When the wings are ready, take them out of the oven and let them sit for about 5 minutes.
  17. Using tongs, coat the rested wings thoroughly in the prepared sauce before plating.
  18. Serve the wings with ranch or blue cheese dressing on the side.
