Spicy Fried Chicken Strips
These spicy chicken strips are a flavourful American dinner option. Chicken breast strips are dipped in an egg wash, coated in a seasoned flour and breadcrumb mixture featuring Creole seasoning, and then fried until perfectly cooked and golden. The process is straightforward, taking about 30 minutes from start to finish to serve two people.
Ingredients
- 0.25 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.25 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon Creole seasoning
- 1 pinch ground black pepper
- 2 (5 ounce) skinless, boneless chicken breasts, sliced into strips
- 0.5 cup oil for frying, or as needed
Method
- Combine the milk and egg in a medium bowl. In a separate bowl, thoroughly mix the flour, dry bread crumbs, Creole seasoning, and ground black pepper.
- In a deep-fryer or a large saucepan, heat the oil to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Take each chicken strip, dip it into the egg mixture, and then coat it completely in the seasoned flour and breadcrumb blend.
- Cook the coated chicken strips in the hot oil for 10 to 12 minutes per side, until they are golden brown, the centres are no longer pink, and the juices run clear.
