Spicy Dorito Taco Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon chili powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 head lettuce, chopped
  • 5 cups crushed nacho cheese-flavored tortilla chips
  • 2 cups shredded Colby-Jack cheese
  • 1 (15 ounce) can dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 0.33333334326744 cup chopped onion
  • 0.25 cup pickled jalapeno peppers, chopped
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 1 envelope taco seasoning mix
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Method

  1. Place the ground beef, garlic powder, chili powder, and black pepper in a skillet. Cook until the beef is browned and crumbly, which takes about 10 minutes, breaking it into chunks as it cooks. Drain off any extra grease, take the skillet off the heat, and allow the beef to cool.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chopped lettuce, crushed tortilla chips, shredded cheese, beans, diced tomato, chopped onion, and chopped jalapeño. Add the cooled beef and mix everything together thoroughly.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, white sugar, ketchup, taco seasoning mix, cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce until the sugar has dissolved. Pour this dressing over the salad and toss well to coat all the ingredients.
