Spicy Crock-Pot Chicken Wings
This recipe offers a twist on classic chicken wings by using a crockpot. Wings are first seasoned and broiled until golden, then slow-cooked in a sweet and spicy sauce made from barbecue sauce, honey, mustard, Worcestershire, and Tabasco. The method yields incredibly tender meat with a rich, sticky coating. It's a simple yet flavourful alternative to traditional buffalo wings, perfect for serving with fries or rice.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken wings
- 1 1/2 cups bottled barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 teaspoons prepared mustard (regular or spicy)
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Method
- Arrange the chicken wings in one layer on a baking tray coated with cooking spray.
- Season the wings with the measured salt and pepper.
- Combine the barbecue sauce, honey, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and Tabasco sauce in a bowl, stirring well.
- Position the tray so the wings are 4 inches from the broiler and cook until they brown nicely, which takes about 10 minutes.
- Flip the wings over, season again with salt and pepper, and return to the broiler to brown the other side.
- Transfer the browned wings into your crockpot.
- Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the wings in the crockpot.
- Cook the wings for 2 1/2 hours on the high setting or for 4-5 hours on low.
- Offer the finished wings with french fries or a side of rice.
