Spicy Cinnamon Syrup
This warm and fragrant syrup was created as a dessert topping, inspired by the desire for a cinnamon sugar drizzle. It combines brown sugar with warming spices and a hint of heat. The result is a versatile sauce that pairs wonderfully with simple desserts, from fresh fruit to cakes. You can prepare it quickly on the stovetop. Feel free to experiment with sugar alternatives for a similar delicious outcome.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
Method
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan.
- Once the butter has melted, stir in all the ground spices until they are well incorporated.
- Gradually mix in the brown sugar. It is fine if the butter and sugar do not blend perfectly at this stage.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and let it bubble for 1 or 2 minutes. This will thicken the syrup and help combine the ingredients.
- Take the pan off the heat and allow the syrup to rest for a minute.
- Drizzle the finished syrup over your chosen dessert and serve.
