Spicy Chili French Fries

Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4 inch thick fries
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 0.25 cup tomato-vegetable juice cocktail
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried onion granules
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Method

  1. Set your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) to preheat. Lightly grease a large baking tray.
  2. Place the peeled and cut potatoes into a large bowl filled with cold water and allow them to soak for 10 minutes.
  3. In a separate large bowl, combine the vegetable oil, tomato-vegetable juice cocktail, chilli powder, dried onion granules, ground cumin, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, white sugar, and salt, whisking them together.
  4. After draining the potatoes, pat them thoroughly dry with paper towels. Add them to the oil mixture and toss until they are fully coated. Spread the fries in one layer on your prepared baking tray.
  5. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes. Turn the fries over and then bake for about 20 minutes more until they are crispy and browned.
