Spicy Chicken Curry

Ingredients

  • 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cut into bite size pieces
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 4 green chile peppers, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 pinch ground turmeric
  • salt to taste

Method

  1. Pat the chicken pieces dry after rinsing them. Prepare a paste from the poppy seeds.
  2. Cook the chopped onions and green chillies in oil within a large skillet until they turn golden. Introduce the ginger garlic paste and keep cooking. Mix in the poppy seed paste and the chicken pieces, sautéing further. Combine everything thoroughly. once the chicken is coated in the gravy, add the red chilli powder and cover with 2 cups of water. Place a lid on the skillet and allow it to simmer for about 12 to 15 minutes, until the chicken is fully cooked.
  3. When the chicken is tender and oil rises to the surface, stir in the garam masala and turmeric powder before switching off the heat. Give it a final mix and then serve.
