Spicy Cajun Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small head cabbage, finely shredded

Method

  1. Mix the chili powder, dried thyme, smoked paprika, dried oregano, ground cayenne pepper, ground cumin, onion powder, and salt together in a small bowl.
  2. Place the butter in a large skillet to melt. Add the sliced onion and cook, stirring, for about 5 minutes until it becomes translucent. Mix in the minced garlic and cook for about 2 minutes until soft. Stir the finely shredded cabbage into the skillet with the onion and garlic. Continue to cook and stir the mixture for about 5 more minutes as the cabbage begins to soften.
  3. Add the prepared spice mix to the cabbage in the skillet. Cook while stirring frequently for 3 more minutes, until the spices are fully incorporated and the cabbage is tender.
