Capture the essence of the season with this vibrant British chutney. Fresh blackberries are simmered with sliced red onions, fresh ginger and Dijon mustard, creating a sweet and spicy preserve. Spicy Blackberry Chutney

Ingredients

  • 500g blackberries
  • 140g caster sugar
  • 140g red onions sliced
  • 3 tbsp chopped fresh root ginger
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 150ml white wine vinegar

Method

  1. 1. Place all the ingredients, but not the vinegar, into a large saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the blackberries begin to break down. Season with salt and pepper according to your preference. 2. Pour in the vinegar and let the mixture bubble gently without a lid for 10 mins. 3. Allow to cool completely before spooning into a sterilised jar and sealing it straight away.
