Spicy Balsamic-Glazed Chicken Wings

⏱ 40 mins 🍽 ['4', '4 servings'] 🏷 Main course

These chicken wings offer a delicious departure from the usual Buffalo style. They are coated in a glossy, sticky glaze made from balsamic vinegar, sweet chilli sauce, and Sriracha, creating a perfect balance of spicy, tangy, and slightly sweet flavours. Baked until tender then finished under the broiler for crispiness, they are an ideal choice for a casual dinner or a party appetiser, garnished with fresh green onion.

Spicy Balsamic-Glazed Chicken Wings

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds party chicken wings
  • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 0.25 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Sriracha sauce
  • 1 medium green onion, chopped

Method

  1. Heat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Use parchment paper to line a large baking sheet. Arrange the wings on the sheet and season them with 1/2 teaspoon of the salt.
  2. Cook the wings in the heated oven for 15 minutes. Turn them over with tongs and sprinkle the rest of the salt on top. Return to the oven for another 15 minutes.
  3. While the wings cook, combine the water, vinegar, sweet chilli sauce, and Sriracha in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  4. Move the cooked wings to a large bowl. Pour the prepared sauce over them and toss thoroughly to ensure an even coating.
  5. Adjust an oven rack to roughly 6 inches from the broiler element and switch the broiler to its high setting. Position a wire cooling rack on the baking sheet and place the sauced wings on it.
  6. Broil the wings for approximately 5 minutes to achieve a crispy finish. Serve them garnished with the chopped green onion.
