Spicy Avocado Sauce
This vibrant Mexican appetiser sauce combines creamy avocado with the fresh, tangy flavour of tomatillos and the kick of serrano peppers. Fresh cilantro adds a herbal note, creating a versatile condiment perfect for dipping or drizzling. The entire process takes only about 10 minutes, resulting in a smooth, flavourful sauce best enjoyed straight away.
Ingredients
- 5 fresh tomatillos, husks removed
- 4 serrano chile peppers, or to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 ripe avocado - peeled, pitted, and quartered
- salt to taste
Method
- Place the tomatillos, serrano chile peppers and chopped cilantro into a blender and process until completely smooth.
- Add one quarter of the avocado to the blender and blend again until it is fully mixed in.
- Repeat this process, adding and blending each remaining avocado quarter one at a time.
- Season the mixture with salt according to your preference.
- Continue blending the sauce until it achieves a perfectly smooth consistency.
- Transfer the sauce to a serving dish and use it immediately.
