It's a quick recipe that comes together in a saucepan, ideal for adding an exciting twist to game day snacks or weeknight dinners. You can have this versatile sauce ready to toss with wings in about 15 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- 0.5 cup light soy sauce
- 0.25 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 2 teaspoons ground mustard
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Method
- Place the olive oil and sesame seeds in a small saucepan and warm over low heat, stirring frequently until the seeds become lightly toasted, which will take 3 to 5 minutes. Pour in the soy sauce, brown sugar, honey and vinegar, then whisk the mixture well until the sugar has fully dissolved, about 1 to 2 minutes.
- Stir the ginger paste, ground mustard and red pepper flakes into the saucepan. Whisk continuously until the sauce becomes smooth, for 2 to 3 minutes. Allow the sauce to reach a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer until it thickens to your liking, approximately 5 minutes more.
