Spicy and Savory Broiled Turkey Burgers

Ingredients

  • cooking spray
  • 1 (20 ounce) package 93% lean ground turkey
  • 0.5 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (1 1/2 inch) piece fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1.5 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 0.25 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Method

  1. Position an oven rack roughly 4 to 5 inches from the broiler element and switch the oven to the broil setting. Use cooking spray to lightly grease a broiling pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add the ground turkey, diced onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning, cumin, coriander, chilli powder, red pepper flakes and black pepper. Use your hands to mix everything together thoroughly. Shape the mixture into four equal patties and arrange them on the prepared pan.
  3. Place the pan under the preheated broiler. Cook the patties for 6 to 7 minutes on each side, until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F (71 degrees C) when checked with an instant-read thermometer.
