These green beans are cooked in an air fryer to achieve a wonderfully crisp texture. They are first tossed in a savoury marinade of sesame oil, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, minced garlic and red pepper flakes. This creates a simple yet flavourful vegetable side dish with an Asian-inspired profile, perfect for complementing a main course. The air fryer method ensures they are cooked through and deliciously crunchy.

Spicy Air Fryer Green Beans

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Method

  1. Collect the required ingredients and preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. Put the trimmed green beans into a large mixing bowl. In another bowl, combine the sesame oil, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, minced garlic and red pepper flakes, then pour this mixture over the beans. Toss everything together until the beans are well coated and allow them to marinate for 5 minutes.
  3. Transfer half of the marinated green beans into the basket of your air fryer.
  4. Cook the beans in the preheated air fryer, giving the basket a shake halfway through the cooking time, until they become crispy, which should take about 10 to 12 minutes. Cook the remaining half of the beans in the same way.
