Spiced Turkey Burgers
These British-inspired turkey burgers are a delicious and lighter alternative to beef. The mince is combined with aromatic curry powder, fresh coriander, and onion to create juicy patties. They cook quickly in a pan and are served in toasted buns with salad and a choice of tangy chutney or pickle. This simple recipe is ideal for a speedy supper or casual lunch.
Ingredients
- 500g turkey mince
- 1/2 red onion grated
- 1 garlic clove crushed
- 2 tsp Madras curry powder
- handful chopped coriander
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tbsp sunflower oil
- 4 burger buns
- salad and mango chutney or lime pickle, to serve
Method
- Place the turkey mince into a large bowl with the grated onion, crushed garlic, Madras curry powder, chopped coriander, and egg yolk. Season with salt and pepper. Use your hands to mix everything together thoroughly, then form the mixture into four flat patties.
- Pour the sunflower oil into a frying pan and place it over a high heat. Cook the turkey burgers for 5 mins on each side, ensuring they are cooked all the way through. While they cook, toast the cut sides of the burger buns. To assemble, place salad on the bottom halves of the warm buns, add a cooked burger, and finish with a spoonful of mango chutney or lime pickle.
