Spiced Apple Strudel & Brandy Cocktail
This Austrian cocktail offers a Viennese twist on a classic, infusing flavours reminiscent of apple strudel. It combines cognac, Disaronno amaretto, and Madeira wine with a base of cinnamon-spiked apple juice. The drink is served in Martini glasses with a decorative sugared rim, creating a festive and flavourful tipple ideal for a special occasion. Preparation takes about 25 minutes and yields four servings.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp golden caster sugar
- 200ml pressed apple juice
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 100ml cognac
- 50ml Disaronno
- 50ml madeira wine
- juice 1 lemon
- a large handful of ice
Method
- Moisten the rims of four Martini glasses with water, then coat them in golden caster sugar. Place the prepared glasses in the refrigerator until needed.
- Heat 200ml of pressed apple juice in a small pan with one cinnamon stick. Once it boils, remove from the heat and allow it to cool completely. Remove the cinnamon stick and transfer the juice to a jug.
- Combine 100ml of cognac, 50ml of Disaronno, 50ml of Madeira wine, and the juice from one lemon in a cocktail shaker with a large handful of ice. Shake well to chill the mixture. Strain it into the prepared glasses, finish with the spiced apple juice, and serve straight away.
