Sausage Roll Twists with Tomato Dip
These fun sausage roll twists are a brilliant British snack, perfect for serving at a children's birthday party. Made with chipolatas wrapped in all-butter puff pastry, they bake until golden in just 20 minutes. A simple dip of reduced-sugar ketchup, malt vinegar, and finely chopped cherry tomatoes accompanies them. The recipe yields 24 tasty twists, ready in about half an hour.
Ingredients
- 1⁄2 a 500g block all-butter puff pastry defrosted if frozen
- 400g pack chipolata
- 6 tbsp reduced-sugar tomato ketchup
- 2 tsp malt vinegar
- 6 cherry tomatoes finely chopped
Method
- Preheat the oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7. Roll the pastry out to the thickness of a £1 coin, roughly 20 x 30cm. Slice it into 1cm wide strips from the shorter side. Twist each chipolata slightly to thin it, then cut it in half. Wrap one pastry strip around each sausage half, tucking the ends underneath, and arrange on a baking tray.
- Bake for 20 mins until the pastry and sausages are golden. While they cook, combine the ketchup, malt vinegar and chopped cherry tomatoes. Serve the warm twists with the tomato dip in small bowls.
