It requires minimal preparation and bakes in just 35 minutes, resulting in a tender, cheesy bread that pairs wonderfully with a variety of meals. Perfect for a snack or as an accompaniment, it uses common pantry staples for ease. The recipe yields one 9x5 inch loaf, serving approximately 12 people.
Ingredients
- 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.25 cup white sugar
- 2.5 teaspoons baking powder
- 0.75 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 0.75 cup milk
- 0.33300000429153 cup vegetable oil
Method
- Set your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Prepare a 9x5 inch loaf pan by lightly greasing it.
- Combine the all-purpose flour, white sugar, baking powder, salt and shredded Cheddar cheese in a large bowl. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the beaten egg, milk and vegetable oil. Gently fold the dry flour and cheese mixture into the wet egg mixture, mixing only until the ingredients are combined and moistened. Transfer this batter into your prepared loaf pan.
- Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes. The bread is done when a toothpick inserted into the centre of the loaf comes out clean.
