Praline Butter-Pecan Crunch Popcorn
This sweet and crunchy popcorn is ideal for wrapping in coloured clear paper as a holiday gift. The popcorn and pecans are coated in a buttery honey and brown sugar syrup, then baked to a deep golden brown. The result is a deliciously crisp snack that can be stored for several days.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter (no substitutions)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 8 cups popped popcorn
- 1 (100 g) package pecan pieces
Method
- Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
- Place the butter, honey and brown sugar in a medium saucepan. Cook while stirring until the mixture reaches a full boil.
- Add the baking soda, which will cause the mixture to foam.
- Put the popped popcorn and pecan pieces into a large bowl.
- Pour the hot syrup over the popcorn and nuts, mixing thoroughly to ensure an even coating.
- Transfer the mixture to a large buttered cookie sheet, spreading it out evenly.
- Bake for about 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until it turns a deep golden brown.
- Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
