Pisco Sour
This recipe guides you through creating the iconic Pisco Sour cocktail. You'll begin by preparing a simple sugar syrup, which is then blended with fresh lime juice, Pisco spirit, egg whites and ice. The result is a delightfully frothy and balanced drink, traditionally finished with a dash of aromatic bitters on the foam. It's a refreshing beverage that's straightforward to mix up in about 10 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup key lime juice
- 1 1/2 cups Pisco
- 3 egg whites
- 1 1/2 cups ice
- Angostura bitters
Method
- Prepare the sugar syrup by combining the sugar and water in a pot and bringing it to a boil. Allow it to boil for 1 minute, then take it off the heat and leave it to cool completely.
- Add the cooled sugar syrup, lime juice, Pisco, egg whites and ice to a blender. Blend the mixture until it becomes very frothy and well combined.
- Pour the blended cocktail into small tumblers. Finish each serving by adding a dash of bitters directly onto the centre of the foam.
