Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 ounces monterey jack cheese
  • 6 bacon, strips cooked and crumbled
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 lb fresh jalapeno, halved lengthwise and seeded
  • 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • sour cream, onion dip or ranch salad dressing, to taste

Method

  1. Mix the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, Monterey Jack, crumbled bacon, salt, garlic powder and chili powder together in a large bowl until well combined.
  2. Fill each prepared jalapeno half with approximately two tablespoons of the cheese mixture.
  3. Gently roll each filled pepper half in the dry breadcrumbs to coat.
  4. Arrange the coated poppers in a greased 13x9x2 inch baking dish.
  5. Bake the dish uncovered at 325 for 15 minutes for a spicy result, 25 minutes for medium heat or 35 minutes for a milder flavour.
  6. Present the baked pepper poppers with sour cream, onion dip or ranch dressing for serving.
