Party Shrimp

Ingredients
- 1 lb shelled cooked shrimp
- 1 (1 lb) can whole artichoke heart, well drained
- 1/4 lb fresh mushrooms or 1 (4 ounce) can button mushrooms
- 1/4 cup butter
- 5 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup cream
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup dry sherry (or less)
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
- paprika (to garnish)
Method
- Place the shrimp, artichoke hearts and mushrooms into a casserole dish.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Mix in the flour, salt and pepper.
- Slowly pour in the milk and cream while stirring continuously.
- Incorporate the Worcestershire sauce and sherry into the mixture.
- Transfer the prepared sauce over the shrimp mixture in the casserole.
- Top with a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese and paprika.
- Bake the casserole in a 375 degree oven for 30 minutes.
- It can be presented over rice.
- You can assemble this dish ahead of time and bake it just before serving.
- It freezes well, but the sauce may require thinning after being frozen.
