Matcha Lemonade

This vibrant lemonade offers a unique twist by incorporating matcha green tea powder. A quick matcha syrup is prepared and then mixed with fresh lemon juice and water. The result is a beautifully green, refreshing beverage that is both earthy and citrusy. It is an excellent way to use matcha powder for a cooling drink. Matcha Lemonade

Ingredients

  • 150g sugar
  • 2 tablespoons matcha green tea powder
  • 150ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Sliced lemons, for garnish

Method

  1. Place the sugar and 240ml of cold water into a small, heavy-bottomed pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then take it off the heat straight away.
  2. Whisk the matcha powder into the hot syrup until it and the sugar have fully dissolved.
  3. Pour the fresh lemon juice and 700ml of cold water into a large pitcher.
  4. Stir the prepared matcha syrup into the pitcher with the lemon water.
  5. Taste the lemonade and adjust the sweetness or dilution with extra sugar or water if you like.
  6. Serve the drink poured over ice and garnished with slices of lemon.
