Marry Me Chicken
This comforting chicken casserole, often called Marry Me Chicken, is a simple one-dish bake. A whole chicken is combined with a can of cream of chicken or mushroom soup, water, sliced onion, and celery, then seasoned to taste. It bakes until tender and is then deboned and served over a bed of rice for a complete, homely dinner. The dish can also be prepared in a crockpot for a longer, slower cook.
Ingredients
- 1 cut-up broiler-fryer chicken
- 1 (10 ounce) can cream of chicken soup or 1 (10 ounce) can mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 cup celery, sliced
- spices (I like celery salt, garlic, thyme or basil, and pepper)
Method
- Combine all the listed ingredients directly into a casserole dish or crockpot.
- Bake the dish at 350* for 1 hour, or cook it in a crockpot for 5-8 hours.
- Once cooked, remove the chicken bones.
- Serve the deboned chicken and sauce over cooked rice.
