Lamb Pizza Pies
These Turkish-style pasties are a simple and reliable supper idea. A spiced lamb, walnut, and mint filling is wrapped in a quick pizza dough and baked until golden. They are ready to serve in 25 minutes, perfect for a buffet, lunch, or main course. Serve them with tzatziki and a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1small onion chopped
- 350g minced lamb
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 50g walnut pieces, chopped
- large handful mint leaves, roughly chopped
- 145g sachet pizza base mix
- 2 tomatoes sliced
Method
- Set your oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7. Warm the oil in a large pan and cook the chopped onion, minced lamb, and cinnamon for 5 mins until the meat is browned. Remove from the heat, season, and mix through the chopped walnuts and mint.
- Make the pizza base mix following the packet directions, omitting the rising step. Split the dough into four pieces and shape each into a small circle on a baking tray. Cover one half of each circle with the lamb mixture, top with 2 tomato slices, and fold the other half of the dough over. Seal the edges, make 3 slashes on top, and bake for 10-15 mins until the pastry is golden and fully cooked.
