Jalapeño Margaritas
This recipe creates a zesty and spicy margarita, blending fresh jalapeño with classic cocktail ingredients. You will combine tequila, triple sec, lime juice and agave nectar in a shaker for a perfectly balanced drink. The glasses are prepared with a salted rim and filled with ice before the mixture is strained in. It's a quick and simple process, taking just 10 minutes to make two servings of this popular Mexican cocktail.
Ingredients
- kosher salt
- ice cubes
- 4 fluid ounces tequila
- 2 fluid ounces triple sec
- 2 limes, juiced
- 1 tablespoon agave nectar
- 0.5 jalapeno pepper, seeded and diced
- 1 limes, cut into wedges
Method
- Spread a layer of salt about 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep onto a small plate. Wet the rims of two margarita glasses and press them into the salt to coat. Fill the glasses with ice cubes and set them aside.
- Add ice to a cocktail shaker. Pour in the 4 fluid ounces tequila, 2 fluid ounces triple sec, fresh lime juice, 1 tablespoon agave nectar and the diced 0.5 jalapeno pepper. Secure the lid and shake the mixture hard until the shaker feels very cold.
- Pour the cocktail through a strainer into the waiting glasses. Add a lime wedge to each glass as a garnish before serving.
