Ingredients

  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 cups canned chopped tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 1 2/3 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons granulated garlic (I just used one large clove of minced garlic)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons mustard powder
  • 2 teaspoons celery salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp.ground clove
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons water

Method

  1. Place the tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, packed brown sugar, water, granulated garlic, onion powder, celery salt, ground coriander, cayenne, ground clove, ground nutmeg and hot sauce into a saucepot.
  2. Bring the contents of the pot to a boil.
  3. Lower the heat and allow the mixture to simmer for 30 minutes. Stir it now and then to prevent it from sticking to the base of the pot.
  4. Take the saucepot off the heat. Transfer the ketchup into a sealable bottle or jar.
  5. Store the sealed container in the refrigerator, where the ketchup will keep for up to a month.
