Egg Custard Tarts
These delightful egg custard tarts feature a smooth, sweet filling made from eggs, milk, and fruit sugar. The optional addition of yellow food colouring gives them a traditional appearance. Ingredients
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 4 ounces fruit sugar, by weight
- yellow food coloring (optional)
Method
- Whisk the eggs, then mix in the milk and sugar.
- If desired, incorporate the yellow food colouring.
- Allow the filling to sit briefly so air bubbles can dissipate.
- Transfer the mixture into the prepared tart shells.
- Bake at 350 for about 35 minutes or until the custard is set and a knife inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Let the tarts cool completely.
